Energy not included – Ambio, the bacterial lamp by Teresa van Dongen

We've seen all sorts of application of bioluminescent technology in design, but this one is rather cute, thanks to the support of some very talented young foxes, Studio Formafantasma. Some bacterias found in sea-water emit light in response to oxygen and movement and Ambio uses that phenomenon to shine a very shy but charming light source. The only (but significant) problem for now is time; this light is good for a few days. With research, we will probably one day exploit the extraordinary potential of bioluminescence to its fullest and I just can't wait. The Abyss in full action.
